Printed in the U.S.A. First Edition, First Printing. Preface, Epilogue, Notes, Index; xii, [ii], 323 pages. The terra-cotta-colored cloth is in excellent shape with just gentle bumps to the top corners and to the spine where black lettering is clear. The interior is bright, crisp, and completely unmarked, with a very small bookseller's label on the front pastedown. The original unclipped pictorial dust jacket shows touches of rubbing with a few small tears to the front panel. [Please see my five images of the actual book.] "This book underlines the enduring significance for our own day of Spinoza's thought; like him, we live in an age of anxiety and unrest, we hear the clash of arms and see men deprived of their liberties. The problem of human freedom is still unsolved. But Feuer, regarding the thinking of Spinoza as the outcome of underlying emotional responses to the social conflicts of his time, and bringing to bear the insights of history and psychology, urges us once again to consider the thought of this great Dutchman to see whether it does not, after all, contain the germ of a basic idea that could be of first importance for our time." As with every book from my father's collection, tipped-in at the front is the small, attractive, acid-free bookplate pictured on my homepage. All books are wrapped with special care and are shipped promptly with tracking; international sales sent via global priority, also with tracking. N° de réf. du vendeur 001734
