The author had originally signed an agreement with Advance Publishing Company out of Chicago but due to an error in the copyright registering the book was quickly snatched up and other publishers put out various editions without any agreement (or payments) to Rev. Sheldon. Chicago's Advance Publishing editions are the only true first and authorized editions. This copy is a softcover, showing the publication date of 1898 with the copyright page stating the first printing of 1897. The softcover editions, as were most paperback books printed in this era, was produced on paper not meant to last 100+ years. The paper is toned and brittle with corner and edge chipping present on scattered pages. There are no handwriting, signatures, or bookplates present. Some spotting is present, including on the outside edges of the pages. Cover shows spotting and exterior spine shows edge tearing. The rear cover is detached - which is why this book received a low condition grade of fair. Book has been placed in a archival storage bag to prevent any additional condition issues.…
