A propos de cet article

The first printing of Franklin's 2nd most famous paper (after the kite experiments) on the stilling of waves with oil, extracted from the Royal Society of London Philosophical Transactions Vol 64 1774, pages 445 to 460 complete (the paper was read to the Society on January 27th 1773). Until the early 19th century papers were largely presented to the Royal Society in the form of letters which were read aloud to its fellows at weekly meetings, hence the arcane title. In 1774 only 350 copies of the annual transactions were printed, and typically under 100 pre-prints, or offprints (for the authors use for personal distribution), were made. Few copies of this paper exist outside institutional collections and they are not often offered for sale, more so without any markings or stamps. 4to in a plain blue wrapper, sewn sheets (22 x 18 cm / 9 x 7 inches), protectively housed in an attractive and sturdy custom made light blue cloth covered archival folder . [CONDITION: Aside from some very slight tanning to the leaves this is a FINE unmarked copy, the folder is almost as new ] . . . NOTE: Depending on destination this item may require an extra payment for insurance. If so, orders made by card will be completed only after you have approved any such extra cost . We always ship in STRONG PROTECTIVE CARD PARCELS.…
