A propos de cet article
A collection of early Welsh englyn-poems in an edition limited to 400 copies, in quarter decorative printed cloth (by Smith Settle), white spine titles. Internally, half title, frontis, title page in red & black, [6], 7-39 pp, [1], [12] Canu Heledd, [3] Colophon, 9 superb coloured illustrations by Harry Brockway, top corner bumped very slightly, a few tiny spots to blanks. Designed and printed by David Esslemont, typeface by David Vickers. Titles, introduction & story in English, poetry in modern Welsh. (331*200). (Reynolds - Bibliography of Welsh Lit p19). The poems portray Heledd as a woman mourning the destruction of her kingdom and the deaths of her family and people. The emotional centre of the material is therefore loss, exile, memory & lamentation.
