A fascinating study of traditional Chinese sailing vessels, their evolution, construction, variety and use. The author was for many years River Inspector for the Chinese Maritime Customs and the present volume is a meticulously crafted work of love. In addition to the historical value of his study of the vessels, the author also provides a most entertaining account of the coastal and riverine life in China that he knew so well. DJ chipped but now protected in Mylar. Boards a little bowed, some foxing on the final plate in the rear of the book.
