First edition. 1 vols. 8vo. Set in the Mediterranean in the days of the Barbary Coast pirates, this story follows the fortunes of Prospero Adorno, the poet-solider of Genoa. Adorno feuds with the house of Doria, is finally engaged to a niece of the family, and goes to battle at sea as the navies of Christians and Muslims clash off the coast of Genoa. A later Sabatini novel, published after Captain Blood and The Sea Hawk, this capitalized on Sabatini's expertise telling swashbuckling tales of adventure at sea and on land. Naval battles, Genoese intrigue, romance, and more. Very good publisher's cloth with very good dust jacket with some soiling and wear. N° de réf. du vendeur 312473
