A propos de cet article
FIRST DELUXE EDITION. 86pp, colour frontispiece and 26 other colour illustrations, pp22 has a small area of surface loss (see photo) which affects 3 words, there is a small corresponding area on the margin of the opposite illustration, p45-48 have a crease to the top corner and a small piece torn from the upper blank margin, not affecting the text or the illustration, the illustration to p74 has a paper fault crease, illustrated endpapers, front free endpaper with pencil ownership name on recto and ink inscription on verso, original very attractive floral fabric-covered boards, spine browned/faded, cloth of both joints starting to split. Only Squirrel Nutkin and The Tailor of Gloucester were to get the de-luxe binding. The idea of a special edition came from Warne. Potter went to considerable trouble to source the material from her grandfather's old firm, Edmund Potter & Co, Manchester. Eventually she was satisfied "rather quaint, especially one like pansies". And it was this flower pattern which was eventually chosen for the de-luxe binding of The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin and The Tailor of Gloucester.
