Octavo. Unpaginated. [15 pages]. Soft cover bound in tan stapled wrappers. The binding is worn and soiled from handling but is sound. There are a few splash marks or stains on the back cover. There are also some brown spots near the gutter in the center of the booklet. In the Foreword, the author notes that she wrote this shortly after the Kingston Trio released their recording of the ballad of "Tom Dooley" to set forward some facts of the story. There is an illustrated frontis portrait of Tom Dooley in his Confederate uniform, based on a sketch by Edith Ferguson Carter. The last page is a photo (newspaper quality) of Tom Dooley's grave covered in snow. Front cover drawing by T. Oakley. This booklet is now housed loosely in a board-backed clear mylar sleeve.
