With 2 portraits of the author by L.Lantier and F.A.Cazals and several drawings by Jarry and Pierre Bonnard printed in red on grey paper and 204 drawings by FranciszkaThemerson doodled on litho plates and printed in black on yellow paper. Original publishers black cloth rubbed along the bottom edges with the tips of the corners worn. The yellow front free endpaper has a small yellow price label affixed to the top right hand corner. Dustwrapper complete but for chip with loss to head of spine panel otherwise a firm, clean copy of the first printing of the English translation. Loosely enclosed is an advertisement for the list of publications of the Gaberbocchus press up to 1953 presented as a four leaf satirical letter to 'Lady Celia' with a line drawing endpiece of the Gaberbocchus by Franciska Themerson. This in near fine state with only very slight toning to the edges.
