A propos de cet article

Octavo. 11 pages. Soft cover. Stitched pamphlet with a simple string tie at the spine The binding is worn with creases and chips along the edges. Several dam spots at the fore edge and at the bottom of the title page (which is the front cover). Browning and foxing to the text. George Edmund Badger (1795-1866) was a superior court judge, Secretary of the Navy, and was a U.S. Senator, originally from New Bern, North Carolina. In 1828 he supported Andrew Jackson as President, but he opposed the National Bank, so he joined the newly formed Whig Party. In 1840 he was appointed as Secretary of the Navy, and he did much to modernize the Navy, setting the foundation for the Atlantic Fleet and investing in research for new types of Ordinance and weapons. Description de la boutique

Pages Past is a small used and antiquarian bookshop holding 10,000-15,000 volumes. We are located a few blocks from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Most of our books are hardback, although we have a few bookcases of paperbacks with recent fiction and classic literature represented. We also have a fairly good collection of Eastern Philosophy & Religion (Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism) as well as New Age. Most of these are recent paperbacks in nice condition. We have a good collection of antiquarian books in the fields of Americana, old leather bound books, and early religious and scholarly books. Shop hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. We're closed on Sundays. We are always interested in buying quality books in very good condition.…
