First trade edition, first printing. Publisher's original dark green cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in the Stephen Haffner designed dustwrapper. Illustrated endpapers. A fine copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth bright and fresh, with just a hint of rubbing to the spine tips and extremities. The contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed and creased dustwrapper, which is without fading, loss or tears. Not price-clipped ($35.00 to the upper front flap). The trade edition was issued in an edition of 1000 copies. An edition of 100 numbered, signed and slipcased copies were also issued simultaneously.
