Art book created by Fluxus artist George Brecht with the box designed by George Marciunas. The original version of the book had 73 cards, or flux-scores, of varying sizes, each with different instructions. Marciunas collected the first 73 event-scores by Brecht and created a box designed with Marciunas's design on the cover (he was a free-lance designer for the US army in Germany at the time.) Published in spring 1963, the box was designed to be the cheapest and simplest way of disseminating art, and in keeping with Maciunas's beliefs, for an "inexpensive, mass-produced unlimited edition (designed) to erode the cultural status of art and to help to eliminate the artist's ego." Later editions would place additional scores inside, so the last editions published would have almost 100 more than the original. The later editions also broke with Marciunas's almost proletarian ideal of art for the masses, by making the boxes fancier and putting them out in limited editions. The box has almost completely disintegrated. Much of the label with Marciunas's design gone. All 73 cards with Brecht's scores, but some are fragile and one has been torn in half.
