A propos de cet article

Offering this first American edition copy of "The Work of Thomas Cranmer (The Courtenay Library of Reformation Classics)," edited by G.E. Duffield, with an introduction by J.I. Packer. Philadelphia: Fortress Press, 1965, 1st US printing. Cloth hardcover with dust jacket, frontis portrait of Cranmer plus additional portraits in b/w, pp. 370. This volume is a curated anthology of the most important religious and political writings written by Archbishop Thomas Cranmer during the 1500s English Reformation, produced while he navigated the volatile courts of Henry VIII and Edward VI. Sections include: - Church & Liturgy, and his foundational work on The Book of Common Prayer, - Sacramental Controversies, and his famous text A Defence of the True and Catholic Doctrine of the Sacrament, - Royal & Political Proclamations, with official proclamations, prefaces to the first authorized English Bibles, and legal opinions, - Personal Letters, including his final, desperate letters written from prison before he was executed under Queen Mary I, - Theological Introductory Essay by 20th-century theologian J.I Packer (who explains why Cranmer is still relevant today). Overall condition is Very Good. Binding is secure, cloth shows light wear, corners sharp. Dust jacket is age toned and has some chipping at edges. Text block has a little grazing at bottom edge. Interior mildly age toned, else pages clean and unmarked. A nice, solid copy! [ D2 ] [English Reformation, Anglican Liturgy, Classic Reformed Theology].…
