A pro-secession tract by the Southern politician and post-war lieutenant governor of South Carolina and issued by Charleston's "1860 Association," a group of wealthy slave-holders who moved to promote immediate secession. There are two states of this pamphlet according to Turnbull; one has Paulding's letter printed in finer type making this only 34 pp. This state is printed in consistently sized type.
