WITH NUMEROUS MANUSCRIPT CORRECTIONS IN MOORE’S HAND. A small archive of material, comprised of three sets of scripts (one duplicate), and eight TLS: The first set of scripts comprised of 13 chapters, each typed on copy paper (20 x 32.5cm) to rectos only; the majority containing the original paperclips (now rusted); talks 1-3 gathered together, numbered to the top right hand corners; pp. 7, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6; a couple of small holes and light toning to scripts, some ink stains to versos; the odd corner crease; a couple of manuscript corrections, in excellent condition overall. Set one contains the following talks: Men and the StarsWatchers of the StarsThe Sun’s FamilyThe Moon WorldOur Neighbour PlanetsGiants of the Solar SystemWanderers in SpaceOur Star - The SunOther SunsStars of Many KindsGas-Clouds and Island UniversesBeginnings and EndingsLife Elsewhere? The second set of scripts comprised of a Foreword (loose) and a following 13 scripts, each typed on copy paper (20 x 25cm); the majority with the original paperclips (now rusted), and occasional staple; two copies are included, the first bound together (pp. 65), with two covering sheets and a title page; and the second copy where the individual chapters are bound separately; this set has more manuscript corrections, particularly to the Foreword, which contains notes in green pen and pencil, all apparently in Moore’s hand.Set two contains the following talks: Our Earth in SpaceDreams of Other WorldsRockets into SpaceMan-Made MoonsMan in SpaceSpace Research and OurselvesContact with the Moon“One Small Step…”Space Stations and Lunar BasesMariners to MarsInto the Hot RegionsThe Grand TourFlight to the StarsThe scripts refer to Moore’s 'Into Space', a South African radio series, of which he writes in his (heavily amended) Foreword: “The SABC English Service had invited me to make a short series of broadcasts. This was followed later by a second series; and after that it was suggested that I should present regular weekly broadcasts on astronomical topics. There have been many requests for copies of these talks, and the present book has grown out of them. Obviously they have been modified, and some of the essentially topical but now outdated references have been removed; but I hope they present a varied and perhaps historical account of events during 1972, a momentous year in astronomical progress…" Also included are five typed letters, all signed ‘Patrick’ from Moore to H. David Lloyd of the South African Broadcasting Corporation, concerning the preparation of the talks for publication: "I dropped everything, and did my best. I have amended the articles to make them untopical.I have added a Foreword, and I have managed to scrape up a picture for each talk", he writes on 11th November 1972. "I am off to America on Monday for Apollo 17, but have arranged two sessions at the BBC this week before I go. I will therefore be well ahead. Wish I could do one direct from Cape Kennedy; but it's too risky" he continues on 27th November 1972.And "Did anything came of the book of the talks? As you know, I rushed it through before I went to America in December, because I gathered it was needed before Christmas; but I haven't heard another thing!! I'd be most grateful if you'd let me know; and if you are NOT publishing them after all, I'd be glad to have them back, because someone else is very interested in doing them (Reid's)" on 23th January 1973. With with one typed postcard from ‘P’, also to Lloyd, one return letter to Patrick, and a TLS to Lloyd from Pat Wood, General Features, on BBC headed notepaper. A wonderful archive of material. Type: Scripts. Material: Copy paper.…

Conditions de vente
Thank you for your interest in our books. By purchasing from us, you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions, which constitute the terms of the agreement, other than purchase price of any items, between you as purchaser and us as seller. Please read them carefully to make sure you are comfortable with them before proceeding with your purchase. These terms apply to sales in person, online - through our website or any other platform, such as Abe Books, or others - and by telephone.
DESCRIPTIONS AND AUTHENTICITY
We have applied to be associate members of the Antiquarian Bookseller’s Association and abide by their Code of Good Practice. We describe all our items carefully and guarantee their authenticity and completeness as described. Our descriptions will note any flaws or defects. Please inspect your item carefully as soon as you receive it. Should you find a significant flaw or defect we have not described, you will be entitled to a full refund, including the original cost of delivery if you paid for it, on return of the item to us in the same condition as you bought it. Please notify us of the flaw and your intention to return the item as soon as possible, and not later than within 14 days of receipt.
VAT AND SALES TAX
Please note that printed books (if bound) are zero-rated for Value Added Tax in the UK, so there are no additional UK sales taxes to pay. However, you will be responsible for paying any import duties or sales tax due in any destination country, should the book be exported.
PAYMENT
We accept payment by credit and debit card, bank transfer (please ask us for our bank details) and UK cheque. Payment will be deemed to have been made once the funds have cleared in our account. Refunds will be made in the same way (and to the same account/card) as the original payment.
EXPORT LICENSING
Please note that some items may be subject to export licensing restrictions before they can leave the UK. These are books and photographs more than 50 years of age that exceed the value threshold at sale of the current UK Open General Export Licence. Please contact us for further information.
Manuscripts and archives more than 50 years old will require an export licence. This may take approximately four weeks to be granted, and dispatch for delivery cannot be made until the license has been granted and we have received confirmation of this. We can assist you with the licensing process, should you require help.
PASSING OF OWNERSHIP
Full legal title of any item you have ordered will pass to you only once we have received your payment in full and it has cleared in our account. If you fail to pay the full purchase price by the due date, we are entitled to terminate the sale, repossess the items and claim damages for any loss we may have suffered. Similarly, we will have the right to rescind a sale without notifying you where an adverse claim is made by a third party (e.g. someone claiming ownership of the items). If this should happen, we will notify you and ask you promptly to return the items to us and then issue a refund. This refund of the purchase price and original cost of delivery to you will be your sole recourse and remedy against us in respect to such claims.
Items that we pack and ship are covered by our insurance in transit, but once the items are delivered to you or collected by you, you will become responsible for them and the risk of damage or loss will pass to you. Please make appropriate arrangements for insurance from the moment of collection or delivery. If you would like to make your own arrangements for delivery, and not use the delivery service we would normally arrange for you, you will become responsible for the items from the moment we pass them to your delivery agent, so please make insurance and other arrangements for the management of risk of loss or damage accordingly.
If you take possession of an item or items before full legal title passes to you (e.g. if you take an item on approval), you will be responsible for keeping them in the condition they were when offered by us for sale, storing them securely and insuring them for their full sale price in case of damage or loss. You may not sell the items or hand them over to any other person without our consent in writing. Should we ask for the return of the items, you will make arrangements to return them to us as quickly and conveniently as possible.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Any claim against us must be brought within a period of 6 years from the date on the invoice for the items purchased. We shall not accept any claim after this period. Our liability to you will be limited to the original purchase price of the item as paid by you plus the original cost of delivery to you as paid by you. This will be your sole recourse and remedy against us in respect to such claims.
COPYRIGHT
We retain ownership of the copyright of all images and descriptions of the items we offer for sale made by us. You cannot use our images or descriptions without prior written consent from us, and we will have the right to use - at our discretion - any such images and descriptions after the sale of the items. We also retain ownership of our website, its design and content, and the elements thereof, and you cannot use or reproduce any part of it without our prior permission in writing.
JURISDICTION AND SEVERABILITY
These terms and conditions and the agreement between us as seller and you as customer will in all aspects be construed and take effect in accordance with English law. If any part of these terms is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable by any Court or other competent authority, it will not affect the remaining terms, which will continue to be valid and enforceable.
