Le professeur André Ferradou (1872-1945) fut l'élève de Paul Vigneaux et du spécialiste du droit byzantin Henri Monnier. Sa brillante thèse sur les "Biens des monastères à Byzance" lui ouvrit la voie à un succès à l'agrégation de 1898. Il enseigna à Rennes, Toulouse puis Bordeaux, où il enseigna le droit public pendant plus de 30 ans à la Faculté de Bordeaux, et y approfondit notamment le problème de la féodalité au XVIIIe siècle.
