Ajouter au panierFirst paperback edition. Small octavo, pictorial wrappers. This is based on the short novel "Calling the Ghost" in the pulp magazine THE GHOST, SUPER DETECTIVE (January, 1940) which was the first appearance of the Ghost, magician detective George Chance. In the book versions revised by Fleming-Roberts the hero pulp trappings were abandoned with George Chance just being a magician with the detecting as a hobby. First published in hardcover with the revisions by Gateway in 1942, it was revised again for this paperback publication. The author was reportedly not happy with either and used a pseudonym. Light wear to lower corners, small closed tear at lower left corner at spine, reading crease, spine leaned, a very good or slightly better copy. (24541).

Ajouter au panierFirst Edition. "Baffling events never piled up quicker than the night George Chance, wealthy master magician, planned his honeymoon with his bride, Merry. He was ready to retire to private life, or so he thought, until his bodyguard, Joe Harper, reminded him that Harper, too, went right along on whatever honeymoon there was to be. For the urbane master magician was also an expert in the science of criminology. And for his astute and remorseless detection in the past he was not exactly in the favor of a certain Chicago business firm, whose business was murder." Uncommon title by this pulp magazine author, here writing under a pseudonym. Near Fine in Very Good dustjacket, shallow chips at flap corners, top spine end with shallow chipping, about a dime sized chip at top front panel and at lower spine end.
