En plus d'un frontispice, ce curieux ouvrage est orné d'une gravure représentant l'aigle impérial, arrachant la triple couronne du front du souverain pontife, etc. Cette image symbolique, répandue dans le public quelques années avant la révolution, semble bien annoncer l'aquila rapax de la vaticination de Saint Malachie, qui s'est trouvée personnifiée dans l'aigle impériale de Napoélon 1er.
