A propos de cet article

3 volumes, all signed to her friends Martin and Shirley Brookes. The Heaven Tree, Macmillan reprint 1960 (same year as first). Fine in a VG dust wrapper. Light rubbing to edges of spine. The d/w to the first edition has 'New Fiction From Heinemann' on the lower panel, listing 7 titles. This copy has 'Some reviews of The Heaven Tree' on the lower panel, else the cover, spine and flaps are identical with the first edition. The Green Branch, Heinemann, 1st edition 1962. Book is VG with a small bump to front corner. D/w is VG with a small split at the base of the spine and some brown staining on the underside (tea?) which is difficult to see on the outside. The Scarlet Seed, Heinemann, 1st edition 1963. Book is Fine. D/w is VG and has light rubbing to the extremities and a tiny chip missing from the base of the spine. The Heaven Tree is signed on the title page: With best wishes to Shirley and Martin Brookes from Edith Pargeter. Abbey 900, May 26th 1983. The Green Branch is signed on the title page: With best wishes from Edith Pargeter. The Scarlet Seed is also signed on the title page: With best wishes and thanks for a very pleasant partnership. Edith Pargeter. Abbey 900. [Abbey 900 refers to a campaign to raise money for repairs and renovations to Shrewsbury Abbey on the 900th anniversary of its founding in 1983.] None of the d/ws is price-clipped. Martin and Shirley Brookes were good friends with Edith for many years. Martin had a dental practice in Madeley, Shropshire, where Edith lived, and was a Rotarian and magistrate. Martin gave a reading at Edith's Memorial Service at Shrewsbury Abbey on February 18th 1996. The Heaven Tree Trilogy is a difficult set to find signed. For the three volumes.…
