Collection of Acts of Parliament and signed and sealed legal manuscripts and indentures dated around 1809 relating to the lease of a schoolhouse in the Parish of All Hallows, Barking by the Inland Revenue. Included are: 4 x King George III ACTS OF PARLIAMENT dated 3rd June 1809 titled 'An Act for enabling the Minister and Churchwardens of the Parish of All Hallows Barking, in the City of London to grant a Lease of certain Estates belonging to the Fame Parish, pursuant to an Agreement entered into for that purpose'. In very good condition. Stab stitched and printed on 1807 watermarked paper. Printed by George Eyre and Andrew Strahan, Printers to the King's Moft Excellent Majefty. 1809. Each identical Act comprises 4 leaves printed verso and recto SURRENDER: of three parts on waxed paper dated 20th June 1809. Handwritten to rear, 'Surrender of a [.] and premises lately used as a school for the Ward of Tower for the term of [99] years'. From the Trustees of the Tower Ward Charity School in the Parish of Allhallows named as Samuel Hutchinson, Peter Skipper, Gilpin Gorst, John Humber, David Laing, William Cawthorn and Joseph Reynolds. To The Minister and Churchwardens of the Parish of Allhallows, Barking. Revenue stamp intact and signed by above alongside red wax seals. A later addition Office of Works stamp A6244 dated 20 May 1881. In very good condition. LEASE on waxed paper dated 21st June 1809. Handwritten to rear, 'Lease of a [.] and premises lately used as the School House for Tower Ward for 99 years. From The Minister and Churchwardens of the Parish of Allhallows Barking to Thomas Burton Esq in trust for the commissioners of His Majesty's Revenue of Excise'. 3 leaves including a drawing of the premises and surrounding streets Priest Alley and Tower Street. Seals and signatures of Charles Bunyon, William Garrett and Samuel Johnes. Revenue stamp intact. A later addition Office of Works stamp A6244 dated 20 May 1881. In very good condition. COUNTERPART OF LEASE on waxed paper dated 21st June 1809. Handwritten to rear, 'Counterpart of Lease of a [] and premises lately used as the School House for Tower Ward for 99 years. From The Minister and Churchwardens of the Parish of AllHallows Barking to Thomas Burton Esq in trust for the Commissioners of His Majesty's Revenue of Excise'. 4 leaves including a drawing of the premises and surrounding streets Priest Alley and Tower Street. Revenue stamp intact. Seal and signature of Thomas Burton. A later addition Office of Works stamp B3743 dated 10 Nov 1891. DECLARATION OF TRUST 21st June 1809. Handwritten to rear, 'Declaration of Trust as to a [] and premises lately used as the School House for Tower Ward. From Thomas Burton Esquire to The [] the Commissioners of Excise'. 1 leaf signed and sealed by Thomas Burton. Revenue stamp intact. A later addition Office of Works stamp A6244 dated 20 May 1881. In very good condition. CONVEYANCE OF FREEHOLD 2nd November 1891. Handwritten to rear, 'Conveyance of freehold of part of old Inland Revenue Office, Tower Hill. From the Trustees of the London Parochial Charities to The Commissioners of Her Majesty's Works and Public Buildings'. Signed and sealed by Daniel Robert Fearon and Joseph Savory. Enrolled and stamped by Queen's Remembrancer's Department of the Supreme Court of Indicature 13th November 1891. Plot D School House written in pencil to front. ABSTRACT OF TITLE 14-leaf document titled 'Abstract to the Title of the Honble the Commissioners of his Majesty's Revenue of Excise to a [.] and premises lately used as a School House for Tower Ward for the term of 99 years from Lady day 1809'. The information within dates the schoolhouse back to its ownership by Andrew Bury July 1557. On G Jones 1806 watermarked paper. Held by stab stitched pink ribbon.
