Signed by the author to the limitation page. Illustrated with a frontispiece, eight plates, and numerous decorative figures. Collated complete. A collection of riding and turf stories, with commentary on the author's earliest days riding, the Derby, the Ascot Cup, stables, individual horses and their personalities, his riding contemporaries, well-known turf celebrities, and more. Written by Henry Custance, a British jockey who won the Derby three times. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and board edges with the odd small mark to the cloth. Small splits in the cloth to the head and tail of the spine as well as the front board, resulting in minor loss and fraying. Hinges just starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small handling mark. Previous owner's bookplate to the front endpaper. Good.
