Limited edition of 55 copies, of which this is No. 12. 247 pages. A lavishly produced facsimile, bound by Zaehnsdorf in full vellum with elaborately decorated cover, raised bands and gilt lettering to the spine, gilt to all edges of the text block, red silk endpapers front and rear, and 4 additional blanks, contained within a protective red cloth drop-back box with gilt-lettered leather title labels. Also with a new Preface by Josselin de Rohan, 14th Duke of Rohan, and signed by him in ink to the title page. The book is firmly bound, the vellum is toning gently, with a few minor marks. The text block is a little age toned, with minor handling marks. The protective box is slightly marked, and worn, with minor chipping to the edges of the title labels and bumping to its extremities, the blue felt inner-lining is becoming slightly detached from the cloth in places. An ambitious partial facsimile of this famous French illuminated manuscript, with notes and commentaries, these translated from the French by Katherine W. Carson. A general trade edition was published in 1973, and this expensive limited edition, which makes some attempt to recreate the feel and look of a medieval Book of Hours, was published the following year.
