Volume one is signed by the author to the half title. Limited to one thousand and fifty copies of which this is number five hundred and ninety-two. With the original note of receipt of subscription issued to Mr. Archibald Harrald. A collection of the works of Joseph Rudyard Kipling, an English journalist, novelist, poet, and short-story writer born in British India, which inspired much of his work. Kipling is best known for the Jungle Book duology, Kim, the Just So Stories, and many of his short stories, considered an innovator in the art of the short story writing and noted as having "a versatile and luminous narrative gift". Externally, very smart with minor rubbing to the extremities and light fading to the spines. The odd small mark to the boards with light loss of the spine labels of volumes I, II, and VI only. Replacement spine labels inserted into a couple of the volumes. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small spot or handling mark. Small parts of the text block remain unopened to the first and last few pages of the odd volume. Light tide marks to the rear endpapers of volume four. Very Good Indeed.
