In 1967 members of the Boston establishment decided to try and promote the interests of Boston's blacks by making a mortgage fund available to blacks who wanted to build or buy houses. However, these opportunities were targetted on Jewish neighbourhoods. This book describes the unfortunate outcome.

Hillel Levine, a professor of sociology and religion, is the co-author of "The Death of an American Jewish Community" (Free Press, 1991). He lives in Brookline, Massachusetts.
