Synopsis
This encyclopaedic dictionary covers the field of physical geography, including geomorphology, climatology, biogeography, zoogeography, hydrology, pedology and the Quarternary. It contains over 2000 entries, ranging in length from succinct definitions of technical terms to extended discussions of concepts and self-contained essays on themes of particular interest or importance. The dictionary has been planned and fully edited by an editorial board and the entries have been written by an international team of some 50 geographers. This new edition has been thoroughly revised and updated, with all bibliographies taking account of recent publications, and new entries dealing with GIS, remote sensing and the human impact.
