Synopsis

In Eden’s Lair, Texas, life is always at the edge of death’s cliff. Rose McGrath rejects a once-comfortable life in Dallas to challenge a fear that rules her very existence. Rose is a school teacher-transplant to Eden’s Lair, a dusty West Texas hell-hole known for its annual Rattlesnake Roundup. During the event, the entire town participates in capturing, defiling, butchering, and eating thousands of snakes in the guise of controlling the species and to indulge their belief in a Biblical mandate. Corky Dodds is the ringleader of this histrionic sham and son Valjean is his reluctant assistant. At mortal odds with Corky, Valjean struggles with family ties and loyalty, and with Rose’s help, rejects his destiny. But at what price to both Rose and Valjean? Quotes from WeScreenplay:There is an originality to your concept that stands out to the reader, and one that feels highly cinematic in nature . . .There is a fantastically sharp, often witty nature to the script’s more aggressive dialogue. You make sure we always feel a believability in our characters’ motivations (and ability) to carry out actions that are brave or violent in nature . . . Due to this, the dark, tense, and transformative nature of the storytelling becomes that much stronger . . . The visuals revolving around the snake hunting rituals in Eden’s Lair provide a fantastic, and thematically-relevant background for your storytelling – making your concept strong as a result. This quality, mixed with the strong character arcs of Rose, Corky and Valjean’s characters make the conceptual approach feel nicely fleshed out and successful.
