Synopsis

Yes! I am a Military Child: A Book for Military Brats, is both a story and a song. Told through the eyes of a child, the story portrays the trials and adventures of living in a military family. You will feel you’ve squeezed your feet into their shoes while reading this heartwarming book.

“Military Brat” is a well-known term that refers to the children of military service members. Because of their many relocation moves, stressors, and cultural experiences, a military child grows into the name “Brat,” and wears the name proudly.

During her time as the Storytime Lady on NAVSTA Great Lakes, Laura learned, that in the opinion of their parents, young children do not really fit the definition of a “Brat,” quite yet. Rather than hide the fact that these children are true Military Brats, this book is a warm-up to the badge of honor implied by the title. Through her delightful music, stories, and books, Laura brings the term “Military Child” to life.
