Paperback. Etat : Good. Jimmy Mulzet nearly died before his first birthday. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at six months of age, it initially appeared that Jimmy's journey in life would be full of challenges. Despite his diagnosis and prediction that he would never walk, Jimmy soon discovered that God sometimes provides miracles. All he had to do was be patient. In an inspirational memoir shared to encourage others to be the best they can be despite their obstacles, Jimmy chronicles his remarkable life experiences that shine a light on the value of being embraced and loved unconditionally by both God and his family as he overcame seemingly insurmountable odds to lead a self-sufficient, accomplished life. Buoyed by his faith and prayer, Jimmy details how he achieved independence by eventually learning to walk-a life skill that allowed him to attend school, make friends, and later run in the New York City marathon, climb the stairs to the top of the Empire State Building, and meet Pope Saint John Paul II. Throughout his narrative, Jimmy inspires others with disabilities to never give up, find hope in the darkest of places, and always rely on God for strength. Facing the Challenge, Beating the Odds, is . a story about faith-Jimmy's love for Jesus and His Church, and his attempts to put his faith into action.…

Paperback. Etat : Good. The bright lights of Manhattan, burning crosses in Mississippi, and former flames from Texas sparked a series of stories and essays featured here in Funny Face. With wit and wisdom, author Peggi Davis' musings recount the hilarious and harrowing events that occurred as she gingerly grew up, and her fractured family moved from town to town. Half hippie, half haute couture, she entered the wacky world of retail advertising at the young age of nineteen. There, her outrageous experiences and escapades with a collection of colorful, creative colleagues provide a humorous personal narrative. And her ability to rise above the secrets hidden from her as a child offers insight into the sadder parts of her life. Now in her seventies, Davis' insight on aging and other timely topics gives voice to a generation raised on marvelous music, incredible imagination, and the power of love.…

Paperback. Etat : Very Good. It is time to evaluate your current value system. How do you make decisions? Do you base them on cultural references you find on TV or in movies? Do you ask your friends--and even strangers--what they recommend? Do some wrong ideas become so implanted in your mind that you need a bulldozer to clear them out? Can the relationship between a pet dog and its owner tell us anything about our relationship to God? Author Criss Cross' The God Exchange uses everyday examples to look at how God created human beings and how it impacts our decisions. We make decisions every day. Some are big, like buying a car or major appliance, changing jobs, or getting married. Others are smaller, such as those involving what we're going to wear and eat. Every decision is made based on what we like and what we perceive as having good value. Cross shows how the things we value--and the people whose opinions we value--influence our decisions, and not always in good ways. Many of us leave God completely out of the decision-making process. When that happens, there are eternal consequences. As you'll read in The God Exchange, some wrong decisions can be really funny and amusing; others are not. They are all part of life and how God designed us as humans. Once you're aware of what influences your decisions, you can be on your way to making better ones.…

Paperback. Etat : Very Good. REWARD: Please contact Alan Thompson, Supervisory Special Agent, at the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. 22,000-A HWY 35 North Batesville, MS 38606>Forty-seven years ago, I had known from the police that my husband's car had been found full of bullet holes and blood. I had heard rumors that my husband's body had been thrown into the Mississippi River after he was murdered by men known to be involved in criminal activities in and around our small town. I asked endless questions, but eventually the police ended the investigation due to lack of evidence, or more likely, due to a cover-up by corrupt police officials. In any case, I have never gotten any answers. This published story of John Lloyd Buddy Heflin is a tribute to this man, a source of gathered information, possibly evidence, as well as a plea to anyone with information to come forward. -Alexis Heflin. …

Hardback. Etat : Very Good. Footprints on Snow tells the stories of seven women who were explorers, climbers, conservationists, and a fi re lookout during World War II, when lookouts watched both for fi res, and also for enemy planes. One woman wrote the first hiking guide book before the internet provided driving and hiking directions. Two female climbers were of the first rank in skill, ability, and courage. One made thirty-four first ascents in the North Cascades and British Columbia Coast Range. Another woman helped save remnants of ancient forests in the Olympics and went on to help preserve the scenic North Cascades in a national park. The first woman to climb Mount Rainier was considered daring and immodest in her costume and behavior, but she believed that this brave accomplishment would change her life. Women have sought adventure in the northwestern mountains of the United States and Canada for over one hundred years. They had many obstacles to overcome-including having to wear bloomers- but they all proved that adventure comes in many forms.…

Paperback. Etat : Very Good. This is the story of my journey through the ordained ministry of the Episcopal Church. Much to my surprise, it was a life that suited my values and personality like no other. It began when the American culture was fueled by the norms and standards of institutional religion in the late 1950's and early 1960's. From the time of my ordination in 1969 up until the present moment, we have watched international and American church worship life decline year after year. Today, almost all denominations and faiths are retracting into an uncertain future. It can be argued that at the current rate of decline, the entire religious enterprise in America has less than one hundred years of life remaining. Somehow, my life has run counter to the trends and demographic realities by which we have been surrounded. I discovered solid spiritual values that gave my life a sense of abundance. At the same time, every church I was a part of grew and flourished. So, contrary to the cries of the legions of naysayers, I am nothing if not hopeful. To be a Christian is to live with a sense that resurrections are at the very core of every history. I believe that, in very real ways, we are just getting ready to return to our most ancient roots, where, once again, on the fragile edge of society, we will become a steady pathway to an abundant life and, ultimately, the driving force for liberation and justice.
