Margaret Read MacDonald has been described by US publication School Library Journal as 'a grand dame of storytelling'. She has travelled the world on storytelling tours, has written over thirty books and has a Ph.D. in Folk Lore from Indiana University. Sophie Fatus is a full-time illustrator and sculptress, who studied at the prestigious Academy of Fine Art in Paris.
