L'univers artistique de Loris Cecchini : Entre formes organiques, installations environnementales et utilisation innovante de matériaux industriels
Cette monographie, composée sous la direction d’Ilaria Bernardi, est la première étude d’ensemble consacrée à l’artiste italien Loris Cecchini, dont la création s’échelonne du milieu des années 1990 jusqu’à nos jours. Sa publication coïncide avec le trentième anniversaire de l’irruption sur la scène artistique de Cecchini, qui participa en 1995 à pas moins de trois expositions collectives. Le livre est construit sur une reconstitution de ses différentes expositions, tant collectives qu’individuelles, et comporte de nombreuses informations sur les prix qu’il a obtenus, les résidences dont il a bénéficié, les conférences qu’il a données, ainsi que des développements approfondis sur les principaux types d’œuvres qui caractérisent sa production.
Oscillant entre photographie, sculpture, dessin, traitement numérique et installations environnementales, la pratique de Cecchini vise à modeler l’espace réel à travers des matériaux innovants, se concentrant à la fois sur les processus organiques de la matière et sur les processus esthétiques, architecturaux, organiques et structurels de sa transformation. Il s’intéresse particulièrement aux matériaux industriels comme le caoutchouc, la résine ou l’acier. Ses recherches font appel à un sens aigu du réel, ainsi qu’à une vision suspendue entre nature et artifice, qui lance un défi à la perception du spectateur.
Cet ouvrage, qui reconstitue la vie personnelle et créatrice de Cecchini au moyen d’un entrelacs de données biographiques, de recherches historiques et d’une abondante iconographie, apporte une contribution neuve et irremplaçable à notre connaissance de l’artiste.

À propos de l'auteur
Né à Milan en 1969, Loris Cecchini vit et crée dans sa ville natale. Il a exposé son travail dans d’importants musées tels que le Palais de Tokyo à Paris, le Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) de New York, le Centro Gallego de Arte Contemporanea de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle, le Kunstverein de Heidelberg, le Museum of Contemporary Art de Shanghai. Il a également pris part à de nombreuses expositions internationales et réalisé́ plusieurs installations permanentes et in situ, dans des lieux prestigieux du monde entier.
Ilaria Bernardi est titulaire d’un PhD en histoire de l’art et conservatrice de musée. Elle a publié des monographies, des textes de catalogues d’expositions, des articles dans des revues spécialisées, notamment sur l’Arte Povera et, plus généralement, sur l’art italien depuis 1960. Elle enseigne par ailleurs à l’International University of Languages and Media (IULM) de Milan, et est commissaire de l’exposition itinérante “Progetto Genesi. Art and Human Rights”, projet éducatif mené depuis 2021 sous l’égide de l’association Genesis.

This book reconstructs the trajectory of Cecchini's personal and creative life by interweaving biographical information, historical background and an ample selection of works, thus providing a unique contribution to the literature devoted to the artist. Ilaria Bernardi has also worked with public institutions and devised exhibitions for Italian cultural institutes in several cities around the world.
