A propos de cet article

Description :

Amador County, California, was known as The Heart of the Mother Lode as it was situated in California s Gold County. The county was formed in 1854 and named after Jose Maria Amador, a wealthy ranchero before the gold rush who was also involved in gold mining. Gold mining in Amador County was highly successful, particularly during the California God Rush with mines producing millions of dollars worth of gold. Offering 8 x 17 1/2, with about 40 listings of hardware and cutlery items purchased from C. Weller in 1859 for $56.70. Weller was Charles Weller, a merchant whose business thrived during the gold rush era as he supplied miners with goods and services. The listings include shovels. nails, watering pots, looking glass, tins, powder (potentially gun powder), tin pans, spoons, knives, forks, plates and chains. The items were purchased between November and February. The oversized receipt includes a notable design of cutlery and hardware, which are part of the stationary. The local Sheriff, Dr. William J. Paugh, lived in the area at the time and has signed the document twice, on the front and verso. Paugh mined gold after his tenure as sheriff. On the verso, he has certified that the listings are correct. There wasn t a formal system for approving purchases during the gold rush as miners were focused on digging for gold as quickly as they could. But as the 1850s moved on, there was a desire for a more formal and structured county government. Our offering here may be reflective of that sentiment. An additional piece has been added to the original receipt to allow for additional listings. Folds, toning, some ink blotching. A superb example from the gold rush era. Everything we sell is guaranteed authentic forever to the original buyer. We also offer a 30-day return policy. If you discover a problem or are dissatisfied with an item, please contact us immediately. Our goal is to please every customer.
