Color photolithograph, 12 x 19 inches, on larger printed sheet, 16 x 23 inches. "The General was captured at Big Shanty (now Kennesaw), Ga., April 12, 1862, by the Andrews Raiders, and recaptured near Ringgold, Ga., by W.A. Fuller, Conductor, and Anthony Murphy, Shop Foreman for the Railroad Company, assisted by Confederates and others, after an exciting chase of about ninety miles" (note in caption). OCLC locates one copy (Boston Athenaeum); Smithsonian and Wisconsin Historical Society also hold copies. Some darkening of the sheet around the image, but a very good copy, glazed and framed. "An original color lithograph featuring a side profile of "The Famous War Engine "General" of the Western & Atlantic R. R." The artist depicts the steam engine on display behind a railing, most likely housed On Permanent Exhibition in Union Depot, Chattanooga, Tenn., with one attached car filled with fuelwood.
