Published in 1930, this is the First illustrated edition of this Mary Webb novel set in Shropshire, well illustrated with four colour plates and many black and white drawings by the artist Norman Hepple.
This example has been handsomely bound in a designer full leather binding titled and decorated in gilt,

CONDITION
the binding is in good solid condition, but has some noticeable sunning wear to spine and rear board, there is a darkened patch to the leather around the base of the spine, there are two strips of leather fixed to the rear board where I think the binder made a mistake and originally put the books titling on the rear board and laid down leather strips to hide the error, internally some foxing to endpapers else contents are in nice condition.
