THERE ARE NO TARIFFS OR CUSTOMS DUTIES ON BOOKS. We do not have volume 3 of this 3 volume set. Volume 1 ends during the reign of James the Sixth, before the death of Elizabeth . Volume 2 ends in 1874 . The full title of the set is "The History of Scotland from the earliest period with a survey of the religious history of Scotland; essays on the national music, early poetry and art; and a chronological table of remarkable events. Illustrated with historical scenes, views and portraits of celebrated personages." The sections on religion and culture do not appear in the first 2 volumes. The two volumes are half bound in brown leather over mottled light and dark brown boards. Black title labels on the spines with gilt lettering. Also dark brown and gilt decoration on the spines with raised bands. Marbled textblock edges. Full page illustrations in black and white. Fold-out coloured map of Scotland at the front of Vol 1 . A copy of the title page from the earliest edition of the history is included after the map. Books are a little corner-bumped with minor scuffing and edgewear. Volume 1 has cracked hinge inside front cover. Previous owners' pencilled names and name and address label of one on front free endpapers. Very minor foxing on endpapers.
