[24]pp, with engraved view of the The Orphan Working School, Haverstock Hill folded into binding forming 4 pages. 34mm x 58mm. Beautifully bound in orig. red morocco, elaborately tooled in gilt with cream & green leather inlays. Ink gift inscription on leading f.e.p.: 'Ms M Davenport from Grandmama, January 15th -1848'. The 'London Almanacks' were first published by the Company of Stationers in 1690 and continued until nearly the end of the 19th century. They were usually bound in highly decorative styles and were popular gifts, especially for ladies. There is one page per month listing days of the week, Saints Days, times of high water at London Bridge, and cycle of the sun. Also included is a table of the reign of Kings and Queens, a list of the current Royal family members, Great Officers of State, Court of Lord Mayor and Alderman, Table of Stamps Receipts, and Transfer Days at the Banks, etc. N° de réf. du vendeur 95834
