With wear to the box, including some moisture staining to the top of box, and notations in pen on the rear of the box. With publisher's instruction sheet and rules leaflet laid in. Based on the exciting scenes of the American Corn Exchange, usually styled the "Wheat Pit." The idea is to obtain, by trading, all nine cards of any kind (Wheat, Corn, Barley, Flax, Rye, Barley, Oats, Hay). Once this is accomplished, the player gains "a corner" on the market. Similar to other games such as "Monopoly" and "Life," "Pit" introduces children to the concept of economics. A boxed card game illustrated by Utah cartoonist, printmaker, illustrator, sculptor, and author John Held. Held was one of the best-known magazine illustrators of the 1920s. He is known for his uniquely styled cartoons depicting people dancing, driving, playing sports, and participating in other popular activities of the time.
