Volumes I - VIII (published 1787-1794) bound as four. with 288 hand-coloured engraved plates, 1 folding, (as called for) with the leaves of descriptive text as issued. Lacks the portrait in volume 1. 8vo (9 x 5 5/8 inches) old binder's cloth with lettering piece. Rubbed. 1 volume binding broken and lacking backstrip, another most of backstrip Plates 78, & 281 - 288. have offsetting from the facing text leaves, plate 285 also with staining. Plate 35 with tear neatly repaired to reverse. Plate 82 with smudge, ink stain to title-page of vol. 1. Occasional very light tanning but overall the plates very good, clean and unblemished.
