One of two separate English translations published in the same year, edited by M. L.A. Milet Mureau, this thought be be the second issued, but with a larger compliment of plates. Two volumes octavo (21.56 x 13.5cm). Vol. I, pp. [18],cxc,290; Vol. II, pp. viii,442,64,119,[1]. With 50 (ex 51) maps & plates, of which 3 of the maps folding. Lacking the frontispiece portrait to the first volume. Some occasional light foxing to plates, more so to the frontispiece, which also has a marginal damp-stain, the initial 8pp. of the 'Tables Shewing The Course of La Boussole' in the second volume spotted (indicating use of a varying paper stock). Large folding chart with small closed tear to hinge, no loss. Bound in modern half calf, twin contrasting labels, gilt, marbled boards, lighty rubbed. Vg.
