LOT DESCRIPTION, PLEASE READ

Bernd Rosemeyer's drive for Auto Union in the 1936 Coppa Acerbo was most noted for his absolute dominance and fearless handling of the mid-engined Type C racer.

Rosemeyer secured victory after a grueling sixteen lap, three-hour race on the 25.8 km Pescara circuit.

His team-mate Ernst von Delius finished second, while Achille Varzi took third, completing an all Auto Union podium.

The race featured a huge six-kilometre straight where drivers remained at full throttle for over a minute.

On the straight Rosemeyer reached 183.64 mph (295.54 km/h).

This speed was recorded on a timed section located on the approximately four-mile-long (6.4 km) straight that led back toward the city of Pescara, colloquially known as the "Flying Kilometer".

The Type C's 6.0-liter supercharged V16 engine produced approximately 520 horsepower, giving it a theoretical top speed of up to 211 mph (340 km/h) in standard road-racing trim.

Rosemeyer's success at Pescara, alongside his wins at the Nürburgring and Monza that year, cemented his status as the only driver to truly tame the volatile 16-cylinder Auto Union Type C.

Victory at Pescara was a critical part of his 1936 season in which he won the European Driving Championship.

Later in 1937, Rosemeyer drove a specialized "Streamliner" version of the Type C to exceed 248 mph (400 km/h) on the AVUS circuit and the German autobahn.

Poster published on a medium stock, generally in good condition but with PLENTY OF VISIBLE WEAR AND TEAR including some creasing, light folds, bumps and surface scuffs.

Discoloration and foxing front and rear hence SOLD AS SEEN offered WITHOUT PROVENANCE nevertheless an extremely rare Auto Union document and unique Bernd Rosemeyer artifact with Auto Union, Continental Tyres and Shell insignia, publication date unknown.
