Very finely etched line etching on a verge type hand laid paper. on paper. Size in cm: The overall size is ca. 16.5 x 22 cm. The image size is ca. 10 x 13 cm. Size in inch: The overall size is ca. 6.5 x 8.7 inch. The image size is ca. 3.9 x 5.1 inch.Plate 130, titled: Pallade (Plasma di Smeraldo) - Pallas Athena, carved in Prasius/Emerald Plasma. It shows: A proud depiction of Pallas Athene, standing full-length with a spear and shield, while wearing her helmet. From a scarce series of finely engraved plates. This scarse print / plate originates from: 'Le gemme antiche figurate di Leonardo Agostini Senese.à ¿½, by Leonardo Agostini, published by Giacomo Dragondelli, Rome, 1657. This work was made in conjunction with Gian Pietro Bellori (1615à ¿½1696). The first volume was devoted entirely to Cardinal Francesco's collection, which Agostini had assembled for the papal nephew. The second, to cameos and other discoveries from the auguste ruine della gran Roma, the (august ruins of great Rome). It was later translated into Latin by Jakob Gronovius in Amsterdam, 1685.Artists and Engravers: Authors: Leonardo Agostini (1593à ¿½1669) was an Italian antiquary of the 17th century. Gian Pietro Bellori (1613à ¿½1696), also known as Giovanni Pietro Bellori or Giovan Pietro Bellori, was an Italian painter and antiquarian but more famously, a prominent biographer of artists of the 17th century, equivalent to Giorgio Vasari in the 16th century.
