Ajouter au panierpaperback. Etat : Very Good. Il portfolio presentava la serie "To my father. Cm 30x21. pp. 10. . Molto buono (Very Good). . . .

Black-and-white illustrations throughout. Two booklets by the Generative Art Group (GAG), both sent to Ira Licht at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago (with mailing envelope stamped 1976). Please receive the two catalogues in this envelope and I will be ready to send you a lot more material, on my work, if you are really interested? In 1972 London-based Romanian artist Paul Neagu established the Generative Art Group, seemingly encompassing five members: Neagu, painter Husny Belmood, designer Philip Honeysuckle, painter Edward Larsocchi and poet Anton Paidola. In reality, Neagu generated all the work himself, and the other artists were entirely imaginary, with each alias representing a different part of Neagu?s creative psyche. This scam apparently did not stop the Arts Council from helping to sponsor the GAG group show associated with first of the catalogues presented here (publ. 1973). The catalogue is stamped with the GAG red inkstamp, numbered from an edition of 500, and signed in pencil by Neagu on behalf of the entire art group. The second booklet, ?Gradually Going Tornado!?, was published by the Ceolfrith Press for an exhibition of the GAG at the Sunderland Arts Centre (signed by Neagu on title page). Two volumes, original wrappers, stapled.…

Ajouter au panierSoft cover. Etat : Very Good. 1st Edition. Writing in 'Tate Etc.' in 2019, Lisa Le Feuvre describes how the publication in 1969 of Neagu's 'Palpable Art Manifesto' - his 'prescription for making and perceiving art' - accompanied his first British solo exhibition, 'Art in a Dark Room' at Edinburgh Arts Festival. 'This trip to Scotland, under the wing of gallerist Richard Demarco, was followed by more invitations and in 1971, as Neagu described: "I went to the Home Office and declared myself ready for asylum."' Born in Bucharest in 1938, Neagu (d. 2004) 'became a vital part of the story of British art', and his students included Antony Gormley, Anish Kapoor, and Rachel Whiteread. The material offered here captures moments from his first decade in Britain, as well as its reception, and is therefore important with regard to his artistic development. It derives from the collection of Paul Buck, to whose magazine 'Curtains' (1971-1978) Neagu contributed. The condition is Very Good - finer points are noted in the inventory, which is available upon request - and most of the items are rare. By conveying the motivation behind his ensuing career, Neagu's prescription from 1969 provides a fitting introduction: 'The eye is fatigued, perverted, shallow, its culture is degenerate, degraded and obsolete, seduced by photography, film, television'. Signed by Artist.…
