Etat : New. Heal and Sons publication based on the PhD by Oliver S Heal the grandson of Ambose Heal. The histories of Heal's in general don't give you much of an overview of the range of furniture production prewar. This book fills that gap with a plethora of information about the shop, how it was run, the Mansard Gallery plus a detailed investigation into the furniture produced in house and by outside companies including an appendix at the rear that lists the model number and quantity produced. Invaluable for collectors and dealers alike. Beautiful production with excellent photographic illustrations plus line drawn illustrations from the companies catalogues. Self-published through subscription which kept the original retail price so low. New old stock POSTAGE: UK postage is free. Overseas postage is quoted for parcels up to 2kg (2-3kg for the heavier books). If your parcel weighs over 3kg I will contact you to agree extra postage. Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. 1st Edition. Folio. Black cloth. 312pp. Pictorial dust jacket. Illustrated. Inspired by the likes of John Ruskin and William Morris, Ambrose Heal transformed the family furnishing business, Heal's of Tottenham Court Road, London, to provide a broad middle-class public with distinctive, well-designed, well-made furniture and furnishings. This book, which records his furniture designs and also puts them into the larger retail context, is the first comprehensive review of his career. It is copiously illustrated in color and black & white. A very good copy with some light bumping to the spine tips and corners. The text is fine and clean. The jacket is very good with minor wear. Foreign postage will be expensive on this large and heavy book.…
