Cultura e ambiente tra laguna e mare", avviato nell'ambito del programma di iniziativa comunitaria Interreg IIIA Italia-Slovenia 2000-2006 dal Comune di Cavallino-Treporti, in collaborazione con vari enti e istituzioni dei due paesi. Tra le finalità dell'iniziativa, si segnalava in particolare l'esigenza di valorizzare e promuovere l'ambiente lagunare e marino transfrontaliero, con particolare riguardo per la riscoperta e per il possibile riuso del patrimonio storico-architettonico che caratterizza questi luoghi. Tale proposta ha così consentito di giungere alla definizione di uno studio di progettazione per il recupero integrato di edifici che fanno capo al complesso di Lio Piccolo e allo storico sistema di fortificazioni presenti nel territorio comunale di Cavallino-Treporti, coniugando la tutela ambientale e le destinazioni di tipo ricreativo-didattico e turistico.
