First and only edition of this "very handsome book, well presented, with a fluent and informative narrative. The author covers the story of the 1/11th Bn and its antecedents over the entire century in uniform style, with good coverage of its work in Burma in WWII" (Perkins). It is decidedly uncommon on the market. Lieutenant-Colonel Bamford (1907-97) served with 11th Sikh Regiment (1930-47), commanding the 1st Battalion in Burma, 1944, notably at Imphal, for which he was mentioned in dispatches and awarded the DSO. Deluxe binding of dark green hard-grain morocco, spine with five raised bands, each with gilt dotted roll framing paired fillets, foliate lozenges to compartments, gilt lettered direct in second compartment, single fillet gilt panel to both covers, regimental badge as centre tool to front, grey and green marbled endpapers, gilt edges, silk bookmarker in regimental colours.
