Cox was a notorious back-to-Africa segregationist from the 1920s to the '60s, a friend and adviser to the worst racists in 20th-century America, from Madison Grant to Theodore Bilbo. "Black Belt Around the World" is something of a memoir of the author's 1910?15 travels in Africa (funded by his older sister, who gets a photo and dedication), during which he aimed to learn how white colonizers successfully subdued locals.
