The wrappers lightly spotted and soiled, and with some uneven toning. A good, bright copy. 'Little Gidding' (1943). Second impression of the first edition, issued a year after the original impression. Slim 8vo. 16pp. Stapled card wrappers, the staples rusted and with some small areas of resulting rust-soiling, and the wrappers very slightly marked and dust soiled in places. A very good copy. A nice bright mixture of fairly early impressions. Eliot wrote 'Burnt Norton' whilst working on his play 'Murder in the Cathedral' and it first appeared in print in his 1936 'Collected Poems'. The three subsequent poems were completed several years later, but 'East Coker' was the first of the four to be issued as a separate volume (after first appearing in the periodical 'The New English Weekly').
