The first 38 pages are BGI's retail catalog of Golf Goods for the season 1900-1901: Balls, Caddie-bags, Course Supplies, and General Golf Supplies. Next is a full-page photograph of Harry Vardon. The next 40-page section of the book is Dunn's "Elementary Instruction to Beginners" with photographs of the author in instructional poses, photographs of Garden City ("The Pit"), Ardsley Casino CC, and Morris County GC, and a group photograph taken during Vardon's 1900 tour of America. Following is a complete printing of the Rules of golf as approved in 1899 by the R & A and in 1900 by the USGA, and finally a page on the Etiquette of the game. Originally published in wrappers, this copy has been rebound in red cloth with gilt spine lettering, the original wrapper cover, brown with red and black lettering and decorations, has been bound in. A set of 3 initials written twice on the cover. There are three rubber stamps in blue from the Iver Johnson Sporting Goods Co. of Boston on the cover (very faint), the rear of the frontispiece and on the instructional title page. Slight pastedown offset, one piece of tape on rear of frontispiece, small closed tear bottom page 7, else a clean copy of this very scarce turn-of-the-century instructional.
