Original 1843 bound volume of Graham's Magazine which contains the first printing of Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Conqueror Worm" as well as the first printings of his following literary criticisms: in Vol XXII Our Amateur Poets No. I - Flaccus pages 195-198 an in Vol. XXIII: August No. 2: Our Amateur Poets No. III - William Ellery Channing, pages 113-117; Our Contributors No. VIII - Fitz-Greene Halleck, pages 160-163; and Review of James Fenimore Cooper's Wyandotte, on pages 261-264. The covers have some mild scuffing and wear. There are a few inches of cracking to the leather at the front joint and a fairly small tear to the leather near the top of the spine, though the binding is still good and sound. The interior is toned from age with some occasional foxing, mild staining & grubbiness. Along with that there is likely the occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a small chip or tear, creased page corner, etc. The book measures approximately 10 1/8 inches by 6 1/2 inches and is illustrated with 2 hand colored fashion plates, 3 printed color botanical plates, and a few other black and white engravings.
