First edition, offprint issue, in which the philosopher discusses the problems relating to the empirical nature of physics. It was in this work that Russell coined the term "sensibilia". WorldCat and Library Hub locate only the University of Sheffield copy. Russell "changed position on the metaphysics of sense data in relation to material objects. He came to view such objects as logical constructions out of sense data. He found no need to assert the existence of material objects, whether the substantial 'thing' of common sense or the atoms or molecules of physics" (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy). In this copy, Russell's article is bound between eight leaves of preliminary material from the same Scientia issue. Octavo, pp. 28. Original printed wrappers, wire-stitched as issued.
