Art historian Prof. Millard Meiss (1904-1975) provides some historical context to the work, with biographical information on the artist, his workshop and patronage. The second intro. by Marcel Thomas, Keeper of Manuscripts at the Bibliothèque Nationale, details the collation of the MS and the various types of art contained, and a discussion of attribution.
